Howzat Kerry Packer Lachy Hulme

The man charged with the task of playing arguably the most influential man in the Australian media has described Channel 9's Howzat! Kerry Packer's War as 'the story of a lonely little rich kid with no mates'.

"(He) formed a secret club, with a secret password, and that club was World Series Cricket," Lachy Hulme told Derryn Hinch.

After gaining 25kg to play miner Todd Russell in Beaconsfield and shedding a majority of that weight, Hulme again packed on the kilos to play the former Channel 9 boss.

Lachy Hulme described Packer's eating habits as akin to that of a 12 year old, eating Quarter Pounders with Cheese up to three times a day and drinking Fanta by the litre.

  • @Willow, don't you know that Mylene knows everything?
When I asked her how it felt to be so clever the answer was that it was lonely at the top.
We are dealing with a genious here so don't question her.

  • I have never been a cricket fan but Ifound this story very ineresting. So much passion, determination and hard work is not something we see from most people.
Can't wait ti see the next episode.

  • @Mylene, how do you know what Hooksy, or for that matter, any of the other people involved did outside of the family home? From other comments that you have posted I doubt whether you really know anything about sport and 'please explain' why Hooksys' family should sue as I'm sure families would have been consulted before any controversial issues were filmed and aired.

  • Totally inaccurate. Hooksy's family should sue for defamation. :P

  • I watched the first episode last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I was only 4-5 years old when this part of Australian history was happening, so I am very keen to watch the whole series. Kerry looked like a man who spoke his mind and cut through all the bulltish to get the job done...something I admire.
As far as Steve's comments 19th Aug 5:53pm - more proof of Tall Poppy syndrome.
Kerry paid people well to get the best, I respect that, wish we did that for the Prime Minister's job...we may get an intelligent person running this country one day.
