A witness, 'Sarah', to a Melbourne CBD brawl on Saturday night involving up to 25 people detailed what she saw to Derryn Hinch on Monday.

Sarah said police were contacted as the brawl near Flinders Street, which involved mainly 'Asian' people according to her and other witnesses.

'The crowd just kept swarming," Sarah told Hinch, about why she had serious concerns for her own safety.

Victoria Police told 3AW Drive they were contacted at 10:46pm and dispatched 'foot patrol' officers who arrived at 11:06pm.

Hinch pondered 'a lot can happen in 20 minutes'.

Do you think the violence in the CBD has settled down or do you think the CBD is an unsafe place to be at nights on the weeekend?

Listen - Sarah speaks to Hinch about her fear over brawl

  • I agree Dave you are hard pressed to find someone who isn't either Asian or Indian in the city these days. Anyway the CBD has become one huge toilet leave it to them.

  • 20 Minutes for an officer to be on scene in central Melbourne.
And thats what is called a fast response to a job.
You can get a taxi faster then that.
If it is 20 minutes in the CBD waht does it take in the outer suburbs.
