Where's the money gone?
In the past few days issues surrounding the bushfire appeal have been debated in the media and we’ve had some specific cases on this program.
Earlier in the week we had an urgent appeal for 70 clothes dryers for people in temporary accommodation struggling to dry clothes in wet, foggy conditions. And I wondered why they couldn’t be bought from the millions of dollars collected. More than $300 million collected in the biggest outpouring of public generosity in Australian history.
So where has the money gone? More than $150 million has been allocated but that’s less than half and the fires were five months ago!
