Woman charged with urn burglary

Bayside CIU detectives have charged a 38-year-old St Kilda woman with burglary, theft and four counts of deception after an alleged burglary in Brighton East on the 6th of February.

It comes after the burglary of a Walstab Street house where an urn was allegedly stolen containing the ashes of a four-month-old-girl.

The woman was bailed by police to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on 15 May.

FEBRUARY 9th: Police are investigating a burglary in Brighton East where thieves stole an urn containing the ashes of a child.

Detectives believe offenders forced entry into the Walstab Street home sometime between 7.45am and 2pm on Monday.

The house was ransacked and a number of electrical goods and cash were stolen, along with the urn containing the ashes of a four-month-old girl.

Thieves also took a credit card and have since used it to purchase items in Prahran.

A man and a woman are wanted in relation to the crime.

The woman is perceived to be of Pacific Island or Maori appearance (picture below), aged between 35 and 40, with dark hair. She was wearing large sunglasses.

The man is described as being aged in his late 30s (picture below).
