Bob Hart's Apple Smash Cocktail
To make the cocktail I mentioned on Denis Walter's Afternoons Program recently, which is a hit in the US and was this week heavily endorsed by the New York Times drink writer, try this:
Apple Smash: Use a muddler to mash a slice of red apple, like a Royal Gala, in the base of a glass. Add 2 nips of Bacardi, half a nip of lemon juice, half a nip of simple syrup (equal quantities of sugar and water, heated to dissolve, cooled) and a dash of bitters (Angostura is fine). Shake over ice, and then strain into a glass of crushed ice. Garnish with another slice of Royal Gala sprinkled with cinnamon.
