The Block

Despite a failure to sell two of the four homes up for auction, channel nine reality show The Block has been a ratings success.

Three million viewers tuned in to find out the winner of the show, while 2.7 million people watched the auction, making it the most watched show last night.

Louis Christopher, Managing Director SQM Research (Independent Property Research Firm) joined Neil Mitchell and confirmed that the The Block's failure to sell all four homes is a perfect indication of Melbourne's struggling property market.

"This is definitely a confirmation that there is property strife...At this point in time we know that the market is falling, but if there is an interest rate cut that might change."

  • Susan, I agree with you.
The cars they were driving during the show should be the ones given to them.

  • It could only be a rumour...maybe something for your rumour file but I've heard that the producers of the "Block" who received poor ratings and "Farmer wants a wife" have combined. They want to call the show "Farmer does his block" I reckon they're on a winner

  • After all the hard work the contestants do on the show. I feel they all at least deserve to win a car each.
