Charges over Anthony Dunning death

LATEST: Three Crown Casino bouncers charged over the death of a patron have been released on bail.

Forty-year-old Anthony Dunning died in hospital four days after the alleged altercation with the bouncers in July.

Matthew Lawson, of Hoppers Crossing, has been charged with manslaughter.

Security guards Cameron Paul Sanderson, of Northcote, and Benjmain Michael Vigo, of Hoppers Crossing, have been charged with assault.

The men will next face court in January.

OCTOBER 6: Three men have been charged over the death of a man at Crown Casino following a clash with security staff.

Forty-year-old Anthony Dunning died at The Alfred hospital four days after the incident.

Mr Dunning had been asked to leave the venue before the clash.

A 26-year-old Hoppers Crossing man has been charged with manslaughter while a 23-year-old Hoppers Crossing man and a 39-year-old Northcote man have been charged with asasult.

JULY 12: A 40-year-old Ferntree Gully man has died following an incident involving security staff at Crown Casino on Sunday night.

Anthony Dunning became involved in an altercation with a woman near a bar on the gaming floor at Crown about 11pm on Sunday night.

As security staff restrained the man he lost consciousness and suffered a heart attack.

He was taken to The Alfred Hospital where he died this afternoon after almost four days on life support.

The altercation was captured on CCTV and the footage is now being investigated by police.

Crown says its security asked Mr Dunning to leave the casino but "other people became involved" and a fight broke out.

The staff involved in the incident have been moved from the gaming floor while the investigation continues.

  • Typically people drink and behave badly and the bouncers who are only doing their job are treated like criminals. The police have capsicum which they use liberally and plenty of back up but these guys only have their training. If people didn`t drink and behave badly there would be no need for bouncers....
