Coles' meat ad is on the nose?
A Coles advertisement featuring Curtis Stone and Normie Rowe is being panned by many.
Coles' official promotion for the ad on its YouTube channel says: "One year on and we're still the only supermarket with No added Hormone Beef. Last year we were talking about it and this year we're singing about it! We even have a special guest appearance from Normie Rowe ... because our Butchers are rock stars!"
3AW's Derryn Hinch posted this tweet after seeing the ad: "Normie. Look what you’ve done to your own song. Hope Coles has better quality control on meat than on ads."
What do you think? All publicity is good publicity or has this meat ad turned you off Coles?
*Scroll down for Hinch speaking to Normie Rowe*
Feedback from the 3AW Facebook page:
Linda Duke I saw it last night! Oh Normie.......I hope you sing the original when I see you on the 9th of March in Melbourne! haha!
Sue Mezzalira Just like the meat - they butchered it !
James Paterson normie getting desperate...
Sonya Karassidis Ha ha. Love it!!
John Miovich Why won't they get Normie to sing about the fact that all Coles meat is Halal ?
Craig Currie What a total shocker, I can't believe they paid for such tripe!
Jimmy Thegoods Williams Worst add ever!
James Paterson i often wonder what people 50 years ago would think of todays world if they judged by viewing whats currently on television
Antonella Serra-Robinson Omg shocking ad with a shocker of a song ...so glad I do not bye my meat at the supermarket long live the local Butcher :)
John Robinson And right there is the reason I don't shop at Coles !
Adam Todd Have to switch it over when it comes on!
Chris Feillafe That is terrible!
Ronson Pickles I am off to buy hormones ..
Ena Vinciguerra Sad..
Johnny Flanagan Its the poor cows that are shaking all over before there killed .
Byron Dandy Shows how bad he must need money, when he has to butcher one of his hits,to help Coles sell meat. The ads atrocious,as well!!!
Angie Aldous absolutely disgusting to see him looking and sounding so bad!!! Turns me off COLES!!!
Rosalie Elliot Disgraceful!
Paul Tadday Normie looks like an old lady!!! What's with the hair????
Jenny McGowan karaoke?
Leigh Anthony Harrison Sonya your on drugs if you like this!!
Alyssa Gray Anyway hormones or not, Coles and Safeways dye their meat bright red to appear "Fresh" THAT to me is worse! Besides you pay BIG Bucks to eat aged beef in top restaurants! I turned off all stupidmarkets when they became generic wholesale distributors and no longer Grocers. And when the meat was priced by volume purchased - which means the cheap meats that many many low income families lived on ie Mince and Sausages - became too expensive to afford on a low income! THAT is just Sherriff of Nottingham steeling from the poor tactics! It became blatantly obvious when we switched to Kangaroo - once kept beside the petfood rolls, then marinated (another form of old meat disguise) and then labelled "Gourmet" and moved to the locality of top cuts and Gourmet prepared meats and priced accordingly! Oh to have shares in a stupid market - we'd be filthy rich in a month! ... and I do mean FILTHY! Poor ethics stupidmarkets!!!
Kitty Varcoe What the hell is a 'taste bone'? Awful.
Brad Weaver Coles and Normie have clearly both lost the plot if they agreed to let this go to air...
Diane Taylor STOP bagging Normie. He's doing quite well for himself thank you and does a lot for charity and ex-Vets.
Suzzanne Bongartz very embrassing Coles and Normie
Jim Coutsourelos Normie makes me sick!
Jim Coutsourelos P.S Where is Ron Casey when you need him? A swift punch to the face was what was needed.
Jennifer Williams that add is enough to turn me vegetarian....well, maybe not, but Normie, i used to go to see you when you first started out, now i cringe when i see that add, time to retire me thinks
Bernadette Keenan You go Normie!! A real 'true blue' Aussie singing legend and ex Vietnam Vet we all should be proud of! Every singer (young & older) sounds different without backup music! Normie still performs constantly around our beautiful country AND gives of his time to charities with great Aussie passion! Coles are obviously trying to sell to US a better image re freshness, I personally am not convinced yet, but I doubt Nornie would endorse something he doesn't believe in! Try and Google Normie Rowe and read all about him before you judge him!
Carole Bury Yeah it's a shocker alright!
Fiona Shannon The whole add is cringeworthy
Mary Zaccaria Soooo bad
Julie Torcasio Surprised Curtis agreed to be in this ad with a "has been" that cannot sing and still wears an earring! Coles marketing dept should be shot.

i hate coles meat,it is the worst..and prices in general for other items are high,,it makes me wonder how they can afford the 100.000 dollars plus to normie and the others.also that is just the fee for the actors.then there are the editors ect.nd they have to pay the stations to air it..must be in the millions for these 3 minute bad ads..this must mean coles prices have to be higheer to pay for the advertising.i would rather they did not make ads and drop the food prices.

Sad to see am icon of the 60's who's music was part of my era stooping so low as to do this type of crap commercial. I want to remember the old Normie Rowe the way he was.
