Commissioner is 'window-dressing'
The Opposition has accused the Baillieu government of hypocrisy over speed cameras.
In an Australian first, Victoria's new speed camera Commissioner, former Country Court judge Gordon Lewis, started work on Monday.
The Commissioner will make recommendations to police and government, but won't have the power to overturn fines or order particular cameras be shut down.
But Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews says the introduction of the Commissioner is 'window-dressing.'
Listen to Neil Mitchell interview the new Commissioner below.

Daniel Andrews - hypocrite as usual. What did he have to say when Rob Hulls introduced laws making it almost impossible for the average person to contest speed camera fines unless they could prove a technical fault. Even the police don't yet know the technical reason for this fault.

If, your doing the speed limit you don't have to worry where the cameras are, and hoons deserve to have their cars impounded for at least a month, third strike cars should be sold or crushed, maybe then they would get the message>..

Complete and utter waste of (our) money. Since the commissioner can't remove cameras or overturn fines he's totally useless. Not only that but he'll give hoons false hope so they won't slow down. This'll cost lives!!!

No, It's not window dressing. It gives us (the public) somewhere to go or someone to talk to if we have a concern; without having to pay a fortune for a solicitor. Of course, it will also ease the load on our "terribly overworked" members of parliament.
