Cyclist sues Shane Warne over run-in
The cyclist who had a run-in with Shane Warne this month is suing the cricket legend.
28 year old web designer Mathew Hollingsworth is launching a civil claim in the Melbourne Magistrates Court
He's seeking $1,500 for the repair bill for his hi-tech bike.
Mr Hollingsworth is alleging that Warne drove his sports car into him after a standoff in peak-hour traffic on St Kilda Road on January 17.
George Defteros, Hollingworth's lawyer, today said it was Warne's very public outburst on Twitter that prompted the cyclist to reveal his identity and make a claim.

Shane looked bulletproof until Ron Barrassi fell off his bike and that guy was sent to prison for running over the girl on her bike. Time to write a big phat cheque??

I wouldn't say he's unusual in acting this way. Most motorists' recollection of events like this is complete rubbish when they're re-telling it to people. It's just a shame for him he decided to tweet it to thousands of people, then go on the radio and talk about it.

Marcus, It seems Neil Mitchell is now suggesting motorists (S.W.) should not be accountable even they deliberately create the headlines and then deliberately ram a cyclist with their car to try and justify their position. Just as hypocritical as when he said Ms. Holmes was "only a little bit over" when defending her for drink driving.

It is completely irrelevant.
Lukew Wednesday 1 February, 2012 - 1:26 AM -
His fidelity is NOT irrelevant - it tells us alot about the Warne's (lack of) character and honesty. He has nothing to worry about though - he will have hundreds of people willing to defend him at all costs simply because he can throw a ball.
Peter Hillster Tuesday 31 January, 2012 - 9:23 PM -
Peggy, Warne's fidelity is irrelevant and he confessed to hitting the bike in his tweets, so there is no doubt. The figure is $1,500 and it could easily be this amount. Warne fired the first shot, it backfired and now he should do the right thing and pay for the bike to be fixed.
Lukew Tuesday 31 January, 2012 - 3:17 PM
=======Luke, the only reason I mentioned his fidelity is because someone else did and I wanted to say that I didn't agree with it but it has NOTHING to do in this case. I don't know why you would mention something I already explained.
Also, I said that it seemed that he was already pronounced guilty so no need to courts and I stand by that. I am in no way a fan of his but you just cannot proclaim someone guilty before he has had his day in court.Peggy Tuesday 31 January, 2012 - 6:14 PM
