Emergency fire warning issued for Wallan
The CFA issued an Emergency Warning at around 1:45pm today for people situated in the Wallan area, with a small, fast-moving grassfire impacting Rowes Lane.
The warning has since been downgraded to a 'Watch & Act', with the five-hectare fire at Rowes Lane and Old Sydney Road being controlled.
The CFA advised smoke may be visible in the surrounding areas, including the Hume and Northern Highways.
Police will investigate whether the grass fires at Wallan were deliberately lit. Three fires have flared - two in the Wallan area and one at Pylong, just north of Wallan.
CFA Spokesperson Dave Harris told Nick McCallum it was believed no houses had been affected in the blaze.
Speaking with Steve Vizard, CFA Spokesperson Dave Harris said 19 tankers and two helicopters were working to extinguish the blaze.
