Federal pollies getting big payrise
Julia Gillard's pay packet is expected to increase by $90,000 to just under $500,000, more than US President Barack Obama earns.
*Scroll down to hear Neil Mitchell's editorial - he really wants to know what you think about this issue*
There are widespread reports a pay rise for Federal MPs will be revealed before Christmas, weeks after the Government announced pay cuts in order to put the budget back in black.
New Speaker Peter Slipper will pocket an extra $70,000 while the salaraies of the most junior parliamentarians will jump from $140,000 to at least $180,000.
Part of the new pay deal will see future MPs lose their lifetime travel Gold Pass, cutbacks on the perks for existing MPs and the phasing out of overseas study allowances.
The government is set to receive a backlash for the pay increases after announcing spending cuts just two days ago.

Wayne Swan: We're in strong position
Treasurer Wayne Swan says new savings measures in the Budget will help steer Australia through the global economic uncertainty. Mr Swan says despite a $20 billion hit to revenue, the budget is an a very strong position.
Speaker deal precursor to new tax?
TOM ELLIOTT: "Thursday's orchestrated move to shore up the government's majority in parliament is a prelude to some large and unpopular announcement to prop up the budget." Read Tom's blog which says a na$ty surprise is just around the corner.

Wow...the mortgage intrestet rates are over the top, the taxes are eating away the montly income... But hey, at least we got a pm with a heck of a rise for NOTHING!!!
Is that where the tax money is going!? I just don't see Aussie as a "lucky country" its been lead by backstabbers and cheaters, and what's even more frustrating, that no one is doing anything about that....Sandra Thursday 29 December, 2011 - 4:11 AM -
Julia Gillard and the Labour party are just sending our country to the wall...it's all about jobs for the mates, and money, carbon tax, mining tax, now they will collect the tax on selling uranium to India. Are the Asylum seekers skilled labour, so they can work and pay taxes. Julia you haven't resolved one isssue that the Australian people are happy with since you have been in office! Oh why would you, you were'nt voted in by the Australian electorate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The correct saying is "You pay peanuts you will get monkeys."
In this case we rorted Aussie taxpayers pay a motza and we get liars, cheats, double crossing imbeciles that are in a real world, abject unemployables! So there you have it. Bring on an election please - now!Sam Sunday 4 December, 2011 - 10:05 AM -
Word games have now gone too far when the PM is a called a whore by a man in the media. Such word games are used by many in workplaces, often in connection with very competent women. The PM should count herself lucky she knew about it and could take action. Many women do not have this choice and there may be serious consequential repercussions if they do not. There is no shortage of envious, unhappy people (of both genders) who constantly compare themselves to others and no shortage of those who support this sort of character assassination. Obviously the man in question has no respect for the true facts and no respect for the office of PM. I think he should go and live in some other place. His own personal perceived unhappiness is no excuse for his actions on Twitter.

I, like most other normal people, am utterly disgusted at these political freaks being awarded a totally unjustified and undeserved pay rise pushing even the rank incompetent Madame Jul-liar Gillard's pay up by a reported $90,000 p.a. And yet ordinary workes are, if lucky, confined to no more than 2.5% p.a. again, if they are lucky. Disgraceful decision by their so called independent bureaucracy IPART - a bunch of rotters in toto!
