'Glenferals' outed by traders

The mess becoming unbearable in Glenferrie Road

UPDATE: There are calls for the 24-hour McDonald's in Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn, to reduce its trading hours because it's constantly trashed by late-night revellers.

Council cleaners are constantly cleaning up litter, vomit and urine when patrons from nearby nightclubs gather at the restaurant.

Commercial cleaner Lee Baker says it's a disgrace.

The operator of the McDonald's is calling for police and council authorites to take action against the culprits.

EARLIER: Local traders are sick of the garbage and filth created by drunks in Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn.

Neil Mitchell discussed the regular mess at the site with a window washer.

A Twitter follower posted this to @3AW693 after seeing the images.

"One of the reasons we moved and now call the suburb 'Glenferal'."

PLAY: Nightclubs empty, the streets become awash with filth

Here is some of the evidence.

  • This is the generation of kids who have been taught the most about caring for the environment and recycling. Great job by their parents and teachers. It's not McDonalds fault. Blame those actually responsible and punish them, the kids, otherwise you are sending the message it's acceptable and we will clean up after you.
