'John Howard in a dress'
The Opposition says calls from Julia Gillard to overturn Labor's ban on uranium exports to India is well overdue.
Labor will debate the proposed changes at the party's national conference next month.
Shadow Trade Minister Julie Bishop says other countries have already stepped into the lucrative market and Australia's been left on the sidelines.
India is not a signatory to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, but Ms Gillard insists guarantees would be in place to stop the uranium being used for weapons.
Trade Minister Craig Emerson says sending uranium to India would be a huge windfall for the economy.
In other political news, the Prime Minister has confirmed Labor MPs will be given a conscience vote on Gay Marriage.
The issue will be debated at Labor's National Conference next month with the party set to endorse a policy which would allow gay couples to legally marry.
Ms Gillard will vote against such a move, saying marriage is a union between a man and woman.
But the Prime Minister says she realises people have strong views on the issue and MPs should be able express their opinion without fear or favour.
Neil Mitchell says Julia Gillard is becoming John Howard in a dress.

First its an insult to the GREAT Howard being the longest serving PM,that is real PM, of the country. Then when Long nose Liar changes tune from: that's me real to not real me, I hate India but I love Uranium buying India, that is also rain on ratty Kev on site partying on curry with the locals, then I am the personified specimen of the best not yet 'married' couple in the country so reserving the qualification till next election polls, and finally I use to hate them loud mouth hegemonic Yanks and Tim changed my mind as he may also look into the huge Manhattan Hairdo business so I don't mind them having their monster machine games in NT.
Carbon Tax? Wasn't me. I was told to say it and y'no my loyalty and sense of responsibility and everyone in the country understands that. Then I intend to get on well with the Obamas who by the way support all my aspirations because they matter and are not the Greens of Browns.Karl Wednesday 16 November, 2011 - 10:38 AM -

So, Neil, if Little Johnny said it it's okay but if Julia says the same thing it sucks, You can't argue with logic like that. :p
