Knife attack by 'Census' fraud

*A Police Face Fit of the suspect has now been released*

MONDAY: A woman has had a knife held to her throat by a man posing as a Census collector.

The 33-year-old woman was confronted in her North Geelong home around 10pm on Sunday night.

The man claimed he was there to collect her Census form but then produced a knife and demanded cash.

He fled empty-handed.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Police urge any person who has any information about this incident or similar incidents to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or by visiting www.crimestoppers.com.au.

  • Reg are you for real, the agencies of the Govt. do not link up their info on us and I for one want the Bureau of Statistics only having access to the info I give them, we have been having these things for over 100ytrsa s do most modern countires but we still have neanderthol thinking in how to gather info, I give up!

  • With all the information held by various gov departments, why is a census even necessary?
    How many billions did it cost?
    There was not one question that could not be found at the ATO, DHS or Medibank.
    Guessing it's a case of not wanting to errode some public servants little empire.
    When are we going to become the smart country instead of the lucky country?
