Community Services Minister Mary Wooldridge says the government will go to Fair Work Australia amid fears the Community and Public Sector Union's work bans are placing children at risk.

Speaking with Neil Mitchell this morning, Minister Wooldridge said that over 1,000 cases of reported child abuse could not be assessed due to the CPSU's work bans.

The Union rejects these claims, but the Minister says the industrial action is impacting "at-risk" cases.
