Neil Mitchell challenges GetUp!
Neil Mitchell says The Age newspaper should have rejected an advertisement produced by GetUp!, which the newspaper published on a full page (page 10) in Thursday's edition.
The 3AW host allowed a GetUp! spokesman explain why the ad was placed before entering a lengthy debate regarding media.
Simon Sheik told Neil Mitchell the motives behind the advertisement were to create a public debate regarding media ownershp and control, particularly in relation to mining magnate Gina Rinehart's stake in Fairfax.
Mitchell questions the ethics of GetUp! in response, and says rather than create a public debate the organisation is simply running an unfair campaign against an individual without basis.
Listen to the debate below the image and have your say.

Will Gina Rinehart influence content?
Opposition treasury spokesman Joe Hockey says he's comfortable with the country's richest person increasing her stake in Fairfax Media. Neil Mitchell responds to reports Rinehart could use the media to settle scores.

How much money does the Labor paty pay these puppets each year? Are these payments audited and made public?
I would hate to thisnk that any public money goes their way.Rose Friday 10 February, 2012 - 8:53 AM -
Pleasing to see ALP fundraising money being used by Getup to push issues Labor and greens are pushing.
Again we have Labor pretending one thing and doing another.
The Pommie bloke in Gillard's office really has brought his box of tricks with him.
I wonder how he performed in the recent UK election?Paddy Thursday 9 February, 2012 - 10:14 PM -
That simon guy is such a smarmy rat - would make a good ALP politician one day

Well done Neil on holding these utter juveniles to task. Sheik and co. are out of their depth, they have little understanding of how dangerous their own ideals can possibly be - forever mired in hypocrisy. Cue the angry leftist bed-wetters and subserviant idol-worshipping 'progressives'. Keep it up Neil!
