Deputy Premier Ben Carroll says he wants to make it clear parents shouldn’t feel forced to make payments to public schools.

“I take a very dim view for any child that has been penalised on anything if their parents have not made a voluntary contribution,” he told Jacqui Felgate.

“And any school that isn’t providing that, I want to know about it.”
