School bell alarm

Students at Hurstbridge Primary won't have to go to school today because of a power outage for essential works.

The high risk bushfire area will be without power for up to seven hours today, meaning no airconditioning, computers, lights or school bells.

The school principal asked SP Ausnet to change the blackout date earlier this week.

But a decision was made too late and parents had already been advised not to send their children to school.

SP Ausnet says a letter advising of the blackouts was sent last week.

However, the letter wasn't received because of the school holiday break.
