A whistleblower claims power companies know smart meters are exploding and are lying to consumers to cover it up.

'John' works for Jemena and claims at least six smart meters have exploded in and around Pascoe Vale, since Christmas.

John was installing a meter yesterday which burst into flames in front of him.

He's told Neil Mitchell under strict anonymity power companies are misleading the public and smart meters are dangerous.

  • I Richard a Librarian and Smart Meter Researcher have sent registered letters to PowerCor stating my outright refusal to ever have a Microwave Meter. I have had to Put up Legal Anti Trespass Signs by the Australian Constitution( 1900-1901) on my front fence and electric meter Box and photographed these signs for legal reasons (COURT) and have padlocked my Electric Meter Box. The meter reader man knocks on the door and he reads the meter,I re-padlock the box. These Smart Meters are deadly. Note this.....It is not The Law that you have to Accept A Smart Meter against your will and better judgement. Right now a home in Northcote has been severely damaged by fire through a Dangerous Smart Meter. In America These Microwave Smart Meters are creating havoc for home owners. Try to force my hand PowerCor and I'll see you in COURT. You have been warned Mr Shane Breheny. Common Law States nobody can FORCE YOU TO TAKE ANY GOODS OR SERVICES,IN THIS CASE A MICROWAVE SMART METER AGAINST YOUR WILL AND BETTER JUDGEMENT IF ANYONE FEELS THAT A SMART METER COULD DAMAGE THEIR HEALTH OR THE SAFETY OF THEIR ELECTRICAL GOODS, i.e. Television. Computer, Printer, Fridge etc.

  • Hi all I am an electrician now what annoys me to the max is energy safe invented the certificate of electrical safety and it became law any electrical work must be issued with COES but they say power authroties don't have to lodge them or issue them. They say its not classed as installation work well the meter is wired to the cable that I own, its fitted to the meter box I own,and did you know as a sparky we have to issue COES to replace a simple light switch 2 wires 2 minute job. So if the meter burns your house down your insurance may ask for the COES, and you won't have one so you must demand it its LAW

  • Neil, the guy from Energy Safe Victoria had no idea what was happening in the real world. If this is the agency employed by Government to oversee the electrical industry - god help us all. What qualifications does this man have? I'm guessing he has a degree but no hands on experience as he just had no idea of what was going on.

  • Could someone please take a photo of a Jemma "Smart Meter"
    for 3AW to post.
By this photo I will be able to identify who the manufacture is and where it is produced.

  • I have a fibro-cement house in Rosebud. If one of those things exploded it would blow a hole in my lounge room wall. Tell me Jemena, would you buy me a new house if it burned down; or, if I was alongside my T.V., give me a new life?

  • I agree, the Jemena employees who are complaining, should make it their business to collect all the evidence they can in relation to these dangerous smart meters, then release it publicly, peoples lives are at risk, please make real men of yourselves and come forward and prove what you are saying.
