Tate Kemp presents Neil Mitchell with a medal

Tate Kemp, a nine-year-old with Cerebral Palsy, walked 3km without his walker as part of the Melbourne Marathon.

Neil Mitchell joined him and said the experience touched him greatly.

EMAIL FROM SUE KEMP:

Dear Neil

Thank you so much for coming and walking with Tate and the other CPEC families. I hope you got to see how difficult everyday situations can be for these kids, but how they always have a big smile on their faces.

Tate was asking me on the way home if I was proud of him. I couldn't even answer him as there is no words that describe my admiration for his spirit and determination. I wish we could bottle it, and every now and then take a swig.

It was great to see all his school friends and teachers support him, and in the end as you saw he didn't even need me.

I also think he was showing off for you and those cameras. He's still running around full of adrenalin so hopefully as soon as the sun goes down so will he.

I hope you had a great day and gained a little insight into the lives of those effected by Cerebral Palsy.

Thanks again for all your support.

Cheers, Sue
