In an effort to raise road awareness, Neil Mitchell broadcast from the City Square on Friday morning at the TAC Road Safety Event.

Along with Neil's discussion with Lord Mayor Robert Doyle, the 3AW Mornings presenter conducted one of the most emotional interviews in recent memory with the Family of Brendan Hopcraft, who tragcially died after a motorbike accident last year.

Neil spoke to Helen and Shane Hopcraft, Brendan's parents and David Tierney, a close friend of the Family.

Watch the emotional interviews below.

Special Thanks to the Hopcraft Family for allowing us to help spread the message with their bravery.

  • This is just a hiccup. In a day or two 3aw and its moronic listeners will be back to bashing speed cameras and campaigning for a 140kph speed limit. All in the name of road safety of course.

  • The story that Neil did about the Hopcraft family is sad but did any body tell Neil that the 22 year old boy was riding a big bike with a broken hand . Should he have been on a bike with a hand like that

  • Hi Neil
Bringing a focus on Road Safety is a good thing!
TAC do their best to promote the Road Safety message they can I would have liked to see the message relayed to Motorcycle Forums
unfortunately no one informed the Motorcycle Safety Reps from around the state that the event
    was on .
Riders need to be part of the plan as they are keen to safe life and reduce the risks out on our roads
Most Reps last week spent their time last week putting forward submissions to the Motorcycle Safety inquiry at Parliament.
