Turned away with broken leg
Scroll down to listen to Aroha De Thaierra, Malia's Mum, explain what happened to Neil Mitchell
Casey Hospital has come under fire this morning after Neil Mitchell revealed that the hospital had turned away a three year-old girl with a broken leg.
"She's being overly-dramatic," a doctor allegedly told little Malia's Mother, Aroha De Thaierra, after Malia would not stop hysterically crying.
Aroha De Thaierra took Malia to the hospital after she fell off a trampoline, but it took days and multiple trips for the hospital to take appropriate action.
Finally it was found that the child had a broken leg.
Aroha De Thaierra said that she is still infuriated, and Neil Mitchell agreed that the mother has every right to be.

We like to think we are dealing with professionals but when its you or your child and you have a bad feeling about any health concern..dont back down!
Many professionals become blaze.
12 year old son after seeing a doctor for what was thought to be gastro became very ill and his conditioned worsened over night.I went to a hospital and they made him wait 7 hours in pain at the W.G. Sunshine with me pleading for someone to help.
He finally saw a doctor the next day and they operated right away. He had appendicitis. His body was so poisoned he had a drip for three days.
He also broke his leg age 8. We sought medical advice/xrays which we were told were ok..and he was left for days later in pain and told to take panadol.
These malpractices have been going on for years.
I wonder why I have no faith in doctors and their diagnoses.
Always get second opinions if your not sure even if it means carrying them to another hospital.
I learnt the hard way.caz Monday 31 October, 2011 - 5:14 PM -
all you have to do is look around a hospital and see where their priorities are. There are signs as to , how to lift a patient, How to clean your hands, remove syringes safely, etc etc... But NONE on how to take care of the patient. That shows me the selfish priority of the staff and management and in fact Union movement.
If the hospital staff actually put their patients FIRST it would be a great start. Putting them second, third is where the problems arise. If these same people got this same second rate service from , say, a resturant they would be up in arms. Waiting for two, three hours to be admitted in an emergency ward?? If they had to wait and hour for a steak in a returant, what would they say. And do not give me that B.....T about being understaffed. I have seen the people in Emergency chatting about their weekend instead of taking care of the patients. This tells me they have plenty of time on their hands if they can afford to spend time on non-work activitiesDavidR Wednesday 12 October, 2011 - 3:24 PM -
I went to Casey Hospital a few years ago, awoke not being able to breath properly. I couldn't breath properly, talk or swallow, got to emergency around 10:30pm, triage nurse took a look at my throat and said he couldn't see anything so if I want to wait take a seat.
I went to the triage nurse numourous times complaining about not being able to breath, each time he would use a tounge depressor to have a look and each tome I would choke.
At 2:00am he said it might be quicker to go to the 24 hour clinic down the road, but I waited thinking if I'm going to die it's going to be on your hands.
Around 6:00am I got a bed and the gave me fluids, around 7:00am they gave me a CT Scan to see what was wrong. Within minutes I had doctors and nurses falling over each other giving needles.
They worked out I had epiglottitis.
To this day I stll can't beleive how lucky I was to survive Casey Hospital.Adrian Johns Tuesday 11 October, 2011 - 9:13 PM -
The health system in Australia is a shambles and amongst the worst in the world. Australian Health authorities should come over to Thailand and see how a 5 star health system works. They may actually learn something and catch up to the developing nations. Australia's and Thailands Health systems are chalk and cheese and Thailand wins hands down.

my son was 3 when he reacted to an antibiotic prescribed for conjunctivitis, he was very ill with vomiting and diarrhea not to mention distressed and in agony, my gp sent us straight to dandenong hospital only for us to be waiting for hours b4 any of the docs would c him. A good few hours later he finally got seen he was put through a whole heap of tests only to be told he would be fine and just to take him home without treatment or pain relief. That night was one of the worst nights we had ever had, my son couldnt hold anything down liquid or solid and started to dehydrate quick. by that morning my son was that dehydrated his tongue had actually gone "fury" it was that dry and his eyes were sunken in with very dark circles, he looked terrible. we went straight back to our gp and he was disgusted in dandenong hospital, dandenong hospital should have kept him in overnight on observation instead of sending him home. our gp forwarded a complaint to dandenong hospital, then proceeded to send us to monash hospital, they were great!, there was no mucking around and they had my son on the drip within 10minutes of being there, my son is lucky to be here today, but maybe if the doctors had paid a bit more attention to us my sons ordeal would not have had to be as painful and uncomfortable for my son.So Please to our fellow incompetent doctors, u hold peoples lives in your hands, you all have degrees in this subject, the least you could do is prove that you were actually listening whilst studying!!, you get paid well so EARN it and do your your damn jobs properly!
