Denis Walter raises over $5,000
ABOVE: Watch a highlights package of Denis' busk.
REPORT: Hundreds of people turned up to Flinders Street train station on Thursday to support 3AW's Denis Walter in his bid to raise funds for Youth Beyond Blue.
Walter's charity busk, which was sparked by a Facebook group being set up daring the Afternoon Program host, proved to be a big hit with spectators who came along to see the event and passers-by who stopped in to donate to a great cause.
After an initial count it appears the charity busk has raised over $5,000 which will aid young people suffering with depression and mental illness.
The only snag in the works came when a grumpy V-Line staff member interrupted Walter mid-song to say he was singing too loud.
The Afternoons program would very much like to thank everyone who put so much effort in to make the event a success. Special mentions to:
- Youth Beyond Blue
- Lord Mayor Robert Doyle
- Melbourne City Council
- Flinders Street Station
- Betstar
- Blind Factory
- The Sweaterham Stud
- David Cameron
- Peter Mcpherson
- Gary Leckti
