George Lazenby

In honour of the 50th anniversary of James Bond, Australian actor and one-time Bond star George Lazenby joined Denis Walter in the studio on Thursday afternoon.

The hero of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, arguably the best Bond film ever made, opened up to listeners about his decision to leave the incredibly successful series after the 1969 film was released.

"I received some bad advice that the Bond series was over, the hippies were taking over, and it was wrong," Lazenby candidly said.

At 73 years old, Lazenby holds no regrets about leaving the Bond series after one film, but he wonders how his life would've changed if he rode the Bond role to super-stardom.

"But I don't feel like my life is over yet, I've got plenty left to do."
