PRIZE FOR THIS WEEK’S COMPETITION (Scroll down for how to enter): The Bill Farewell ( Shock DVD – 141 minutes running time)

Quote of the week: “I’m getting my two daughters a hall of mirrors because they need to have a long, hard look at themselves,” jokes comedian Julia Morris about what she’s giving her five and three year old for Christmas this year.

Whisper: There’s no “official” Christmas party for Channel Seven Melbourne this year. But is there a carpark BBQ being planned and has there been a call-out for some volunteers to help flip burgers and snags?

New dad George Calombaris is making this Christmas extra special for his mum. He’s organized for her ‘not to cook’ this year and will hold a big lunch for family at one of his restaurants. “But I think she’s scheming with one of the chefs to cook desert for us”, says Calombaris.

Spotted: Carlton great Chris Judd and model wife Rebecca strolling down Chapel Street with baby in tow. Mr Judd was pushing the pram.

Spotted: Television personality Shura Taft at the city preview screening of “Puss n boots”. Could his passion for sport lead him to his next gig? Stay tuned.

Many were caught out by the surprise wedding of 3AW’s Tom Elliott and Channel Nine’s Elise Mooney at the weekend. At least one guest was a little sheepish since the gift didn’t truly reflect the occasion. Everyone had been told it was a birthday party, so her gift was a bottle of (very nice) champagne and … hand cream.

3AW presenter and singer Denis “ I’m too old to get a record deal” Walter knows how to hold a note. His new record Songs from a Southern Land has sold out in several outlets across Melbourne and Geelong. It includes a rendition of Cold Chisel’s Forever Now.

Speaking of the Chisels, they’re back in Melbourne for two shows this week at Rod Laver Arena. Wonder what Barnsey thinks of Denis Walter covering one of the band’s hits.

He couldn't have been more thrilled with his cool brightly-coloured skinny jeans from new mega store Top Shop in Chapel Street. Milliner Richard Nylon was amongst the crowd snapping up new threads at the opening night party.

Soccer superstar David Beckham sipped on a local drop while he relaxed after the big match at Crown’s Club 23. Heathcote Estate Granache Noir was his drink of choice as he chatted with local Harry Kewell and took in the amazing view on the club’s balcony.

Charity of the week: A guest at the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation Silver Exposure Ball at the Grand Hyatt paid more than two thousand dollars for a lunch and cooking class with Maha chef Shane Delia. The talented chef is looking forward to a fun date in the name of charity with the generous party of four.
