Nearly 300 film critics from around the world have voted on the Best film of the Year. FIPRESCI (International Federation of Film Critics) has announced Roman Polanski’s The Ghost Writer (Ewan McGregor) as the winner, with the award to be accepted by leading actress Olivia Williams at the San Sebastian Film Festival later this month.

Footy fans have a rare chance to check out the classic film The Club, featuring Rene Kink and Peter Daicos, on the big screen at ACMI at Federation Square this Saturday afternoon.There’s even a whisper that Daics could turn up to the screening, which will be followed by a panel discussion.

Rehearsals are in full throttle for Hairspray the Musical which opens next month. Choreographer Jason Coleman refused to watch the film version until recently (he finally watched it with his mum) so he could create his own moves to the music without being influenced by what he saw.

A confident Ruby Rose seems to have won a battle with her stylist, seen hanging out in Melbourne flaunting the daring, double-denim trend that can only be successfully worn by a select few.

Could Swiss coffee provider Nespresso score a massive coup by securing Hollywood stud George Clooney (the company’s ambassador) for the launch of the flagship store in Collins street? Fingers crossed Clooney heads down under soon.
