Julia Morris goes Ga Ga for Starry Starry night

PRIZE FOR THIS WEEK’S COMPETITION (Scroll down for how to enter): Chris Isaak Beyond the Sun (Universal CD) and Eddie Perfect Misanthropology:Live from the Famous Spiegeltent (Madman DVD)

Quote of the week: “I admire countless women. People who are honourable, hard-working, loving and curious. Those are qualities I want very much to possess myself,” confides a petite and super sweet star of Sex and the City and I don’t know how she does it Sarah Jessica Parker.

This I have to see. Hilarious comedian Julia Morris will be channeling Lady Ga Ga for the Starry Starry Night charity ball at the Palladium on November 26th. She joins a vaste array of entertainers who will perform for Princess Mary, the international patron of The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, and her husband Prince Frederick  on the night.

After a difficult year, Renee Geyer has acknowledged her fans’ loyalty and will gig next month. Geyer, who was placed on a good behavior bond in August for careless driving, says “I want to wish them ( fans) an early Merry Christmas.” She’s performing on December 2nd at the Trak Lounge Bar.

Foodies are delighting that the brilliant, quirky superchef Heston Blumenthal is heading down-under for live shows, imparting gastronomic insights at the Regent Theatre next May. The shows are advertised as “one night only” in each major city but there are obvious gaps in the tour schedule.

Hi 5’s Stevie Nicholson has thought better of getting a Mohawk style hair-do. “It might scare the kiddies,” the children’s entertainer tweeted.

Wonder if Tiger Woods, in town for the President’s Cup, will tune in for the analysis of “brand Tiger Woods” by the sharp minds of the Gruen Planet ( ABC1) panel, led by Wil Anderson tonight. Could be inspirational and/or insightful for the former number one golfer.

Word is that cool dude Guy Sebastian will belt out a 20 minute set at the Bourke Street Mall this Saturday for the Myer Christmas Spectacular. The show is sure to include his adorable rendition of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Others spreading the cheer include Jennifer Hawkins, Anthony Callea, Hugh Sheridan and Leo Sayer.

Talented film buffs have a chance to get their work published and score a cash prize. The Australian Film Critics Association is seeking entries for its Film writing awards. More info: http://www.afca.org.au/film_writing_awards.php

Charity of the week: The Love Never Dies cast is helping the needy. The production has an actual Christmas tree on stage after one of its matinee shows to launch the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal, where people donate gifts for the less well off. Each year up to half a million gifts are donated.

Which local journalist was peeved when told there would be no beverages or food for working journalists (not even a glass of water) at a Rural Press Club breakfast this week? The organizers kindly provided the four journalists covering the event with a chair at the back of the room ( as an afterthought) as the bacon and eggs were served to everyone else in the room.

Please email: ddemaio@3aw.com.au with the answer to THIS WEEK’S ONLINE COMPETITION ( PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR POSTAL ADDRESS): IN 20 WORDS OR LESS – Have you lost interest in Tiger Woods. Why/Why not.
