Spotted: Channel Nine’s Catriona Rowntree advising Celebrity Apprentice contestant Pauline Hanson that she had red lipstick stains on her teeth, seconds before the former politician did a live television cross at the Caulfield Cup. Aww, thoughtful.

Statuesque Megan Gale slipped away ahead of the running of the Caulfield Cup after fulfilling her David Jones duties because she felt unwell. All was explained in a tweet later that day: @MeganKGale Yes have felt absolutely shocking the past 24hrs. But work is work & DJs needed me there albeit for an hour. XX

George Negus maintains his composure as his 6:30 show is axed. “The truth is that unfortunately a program like 6:30 was ahead of its time, but who knows about the future?”

Charity of the week: Raising money for Cancer Support by jumping out of a plane 30 times in one day is  Janine Hayes. The skydiving champion, who has 30 years experience, will be jumping for charity this Saturday at Morwell.
