Jerry Lewis with Ernie Sigley
With a week to go before his retirement from 3AW Afternoons, Ernie Sigley was able to catch up with a man he confesses to loving - entertaining legend Jerry Lewis.
Lewis spoke frankly about his seven-year battle with illness which made him look like a 'Zeppelin' and discussed one of his favourite ever shows, which was in Australia.
In a touching moment, Lewis' wife was overcome with emotion when Ernie recalled how much watching Lewis perform meant to the Sigley family when they lived in Footscray.
Where does Lewis sit in the all-time great entertainers list in your opinion?

Hi Ernie, (Bulldog), what can i say Ernie, but thank you so much again for the memories. I will miss you and your infectious laughter so much. I listened to your last program all the way thru at work and told every one not to touch that dial. I wish you well and may health and happines follow you every where you go and may the Bulldogs win a flag in our lifetime again. Lov you Ernie, take care Jude. xoxo

I met you at the Footscray Football Club when you did the live performance. I told you my Mum and Aunty Mary were 90 years of age & "One Eyed Footscray" supporters. I have listened to you every day I could. You will be sadly missed.
Have a great retirement.CAROLE SMITH Friday 7 November, 2008 - 4:09 PM -
Hi Ernie,
I have been a passionate Jerry Lewis fan since I was a child,I am now 42 and still adore him, I was fortunate to see him when he played at crown, and I was excited to see him again this past weekend.Thank you for the brilliant interview with him, it made me feel like I was in the room with you guys, and I know that is the closest that I will ever get to meeting him. I wish you all the luck in the world, and thank you for the laughs.Donna Cuffe Monday 3 November, 2008 - 7:20 PM -
The Jerry Lewis interview was outstanding Ernie. Jerry is so down to earth and unique at the same time. There is something incredibly special about him.
He feels like one of our family and has brought immense joy into our lives, especially when were were going through rough times. Whenever I feel low I just put on one of his movies and the blues just disappear, and the whole family's smiling and laughing again. I adore you Jerry, and we can't thank you enough for what you have given us through your movies. Bye Ernie.E.Allan Monday 3 November, 2008 - 1:26 AM -
