Clive’s Salsa:  Tangy salsa for use as a dip, on Mexican food, on vegetables.  Ingredients: one tin of diced tomatoes, five whole fresh tomatoes, large bunch of fresh Coriander, bunch of Garlic Chives two medium onions, two cloves of garlic, white vinegar, pinch of Stevia or sugar.

Dice onions and tomatoes.  Put tinned tomatoes, garlic, ¾ of the coriander half the onions and half the tomatoes in the blender.  Blend to thick ‘sauce’.  Add in the rest of the tomatoes and onions, splash of vinegar, sugar/Stevia and mix thoroughly.  Finely chop chives and rest of the coriander then add and mix well.  Serve at room temperature.

Wanted - Donations of Plants For Kinglake

To help with rejuvenation of the Kinglake area, we are appealing for donations of plants for the next ‘Pick up a plant Day’ at the Kinglake Neighbourhood House, 6 McMahons Rd, Kinglake, Sunday 7th Nov between 9.30 – 10.00am.

The Plants will be offered to residents who were affected by  Bush Fires in 2009.

We are looking for a variety of plants with preference towards drought and frost tolerant shrubs, natives and flowering plants, suitable trees offering a bit of height would be a bonus.

If not able to take plants direct to Kinglake or plants can be dropped off in Ashburton a few days before.  For more information please contact: Paula or Greg Durham 98852300
