Melbourne restaurants have started banning customers from taking photos of their meals.

A woman dining at exclusive Melbourne restaurant Grossi Florentino was shocked when she was told it is against the venues policy to take photos.

Owner Guy Grossi says he's proud of his food, and the photos can be misrepresentative.

In response to the culinary uproar, Neil Mitchell asked listeners to send in photos of their food.

Immediately, Neil was inundated with emails.

Some listeners sent in their own cooked meals, while others sent in restaurant prepared plates.

Some received top marks, some look rather unappetizing!

Check out the Photo Gallery below for an in-depth look at Neil Mitchell's listeners' tucker!

  • The restaurants have every right to stop pics. Food on a plate & food styled for pics are two different things. That's where these amateur wanna be chef bloggers don't get it. Stick to being an accountant & watching masterchef or whatever it is you do & leave the cooking & the photography to the professionals.
You try spending some time in a kitchen doing the work & then take your pics. Don't mistake ability for reality dreamers.

  • The photo that has unidentified food is Ice Kachang - an asian dessert made of shaved ice, with various toppings covering it and lots of little surprises inside e.g. red beans, chendol, corn kernels. Lovely on a hot day in S.E. Asia. I would hazard a guess and say the yellow stuff on the top is durian meat.

  • Guy, you must be somewhat insecure about the quality of the nosh you serve up, I am damn sure I would never dine in one of your eateries with your attitude to customers.
