Malcolm Turnbull

TWITTER UPDATE: Following Jeff Kennett's extraordinary spray directed at Malcolm Turnbull, 3AW Radio posed this question via out Twitter site to the former opposition leader:

@3AW693: "You're quite prolific on Twitter .. any response to Jeff Kennett's attack on you?"

To which Mr Turnbull replied:

@TurnbullMalcolm: @3AW693 "Jeff understands the principle of cabinet responsibility and so should not object to my describing how it operates.

NEIL MITCHELL PROGRAM: Jeff Kennett has castigated Malcolm Turnbull during the former state Liberal leader's regular spot on the Neil Mitchell program.

Mr Kennett says Turnbull has proven time and time again he's not a team player and he should just 'get out' of Federal politics.

EXCERPT: Malcolm Turnbull has undermined Tony Abbott's attack on the government by again exposing opposition divisions over carbon policy.

The former opposition leader, whose fall was triggered by his support for the Rudd emissions trading scheme, again effectively distanced himself from the Abbott policy. He made it clear he was staying in line because he is in shadow cabinet and loyal, rather than agreeing with the policy.

Carbon had been a contentious area in the Coalition, but its ''current position'' was to oppose an emissions trading scheme or a carbon tax, Mr Turnbull told the ABC.

He said he had never backed a carbon tax, adding pointedly - in a veiled reference to Mr Abbott once saying a tax would be better than an ETS - that some of his colleagues had supported a tax at different times.

Pressed on whether he personally thought the government scheme had merit, Mr Turnbull said: ''The best thing that I can say is not to take a personal view and just simply say that the Coalition's policy is to be opposed to it. I'm part of the collective, I'm a member of the shadow cabinet''.

  • Every so often in reading the 3AW blogs I read something from someone who writes is both inept and miserable.

Today, I give first prize to Greg of Perth. Your comments would seem to be in ignorance of the 3AW blogs of June 30 regarding the controversy of Kennett's collection which were described by Kennett himself as "golliwogs". I personally think the term is inappropriate but the term was used in the media, including by Kennett himself. I also don't think it appropriate that Kennett named one of collection Buddy - again in the media blogs. How you can label Concerned of Bayside for latent racism for simply citing what has already been reported on 3AW and its blogs as well as the other media. It reflects your ignorance of local media reporting.

Also, you seem to have a liver bile problems or IBS or other affliction for criticizing those that use pennames in blogs. I see no "guts" in using "Greg of Perth".

It may be best to stick to Perth blogs and do some homework before you comment. Better still, perhaps you should just continue to look stupid before opening your mouth (or blog) and removing all doubt.

Also, what is meant by "your kind making little snide comments in this forum." I would suggest to you Greg of Perth, or whatever your name and or coordinates are, that the snideness, indeed arrogance is with you.

Research tells us that most people can control their IBS symptoms with diet, stress management, and prescribed medications. I would suggest in your case, skip all blogging and try Lotronex or similar.

Having said all of tha, let me add that I fully agree with what Kennett has said. :)

  • Greg of Perth Sunday 17 July, 2011 - 11:02 AM - nothing racist on my part. It is Jeff who advised the media he has a "golliwog" collection and he has named one Buddy. I simply stated what Jeff has informed. You are an uninformed goose!

  • We need to cease being distracted by the real issues. The big issue is very simple indeed. The revenue producing assets of Australia combined with the current level of tax revenue is insufficient to meet the loan repayments combined with the overhead of government. If we address this problem by increasing debt the end result is obvious even to the least intelligent of individuals. The nation of America was once the most powerful in the world and now they are amongst the most desperate. For Kennett to do anything but hide in a hole under the house is particularly offensive considering under his control we witnessed more income producing Australian assets being sold for pennies on the pound than ANY other politician or government in our history. As a once and long time supporter of Turnbull and recipient of his mailing list propaganda I suggest that to put support behind an individual who has point blank refused to take an effective position on so many very important issues is stupidity. Turnbull is an obvious puppet of the Israel lobby that has destroyed America. Abbott has been provided with the easiest task to overthrow government and take the party to power than any politician in our history. He has not made a single intelligent comment in 3 years. Gillard and Rudd have increased the Australian debt from $75B to $250B in 2 terms. Nothing more should need to be said about these two politicians. To suggest parties such as Costello or Swan are better suited when they have done absolutely nothing of substance to oppose obviously destructive initiatives is absurd. The fact is Australia does not have a single politician who can provide substantiated evidence to suggest their worthiness to lead this country. We are in a very bad spot.

I see your latent racism coming to the fore. Buddy being Indigenous is not a Golliwog, have the guts and put your name on comments.

I find there are a lot of your kind making little snide comments in this forum.
