Boomer's busy 'off-season'
North Melbourne champion Brent Harvey will captain Australian in the International Rules Series against Ireland, the first Test to be played in Perth on October 24 and the second in Melbourne on October 31.
'Boomer', a quadruple winner of his club's best-and-fairest award, will play in a record-breaking fifth series of the modified round-ball game.
Hawthorn premiership player Campbell Brown and West Coast premiership player Adam Selwood, who were both part of the Australian team that won in Ireland in 2006, were named as Harvey's vice-captains.
Harvey said he was 'honoured' to be chosen and team leader. As well as skippering the Australian side, Harvey is also 'The Face' of Greyhound Racing Victoria's TAB Topgun, to be raced at The Meadows on October 25.
Harvey is involved in greyhound racing with his brother, former Essendon player Shane Harvey, and there is a dog knocking about named 'Booma' in his honour.
