"No-one watches the race but it's so much fun," said style icon Ita Buttrose, with fingers crossed she might get an invite to the Melbourne Cup this year.
DONNA'S GOSSIP:
Television host Erika Heynatz is getting hot and sweaty. She joins other stunners including Sonia Kruger and Catriona Rowntree at Princes Park, Carlton, for a Women's Health event (Oct 25 and 26). I'm sure bystanders would love to see the girls tackle the mechanical bull.
Shane Warne's hyper-dyed locks are so difficult to replicate, writer and performer Eddie Perfect has had an expert stylist to re-create the hair-do. Eddie had to make sure he had about half a centimetre of dark roots growing through to complete his "Warnie" look. Rehearsals started this week for Shane Warne the musical, which opens in December at the Atheneum Theatre.
80's pop star Tony Hadley is cutting it fine for this week's show at the Palms at Crown. The former Spandau Ballet frontman arrives the very afternoon of the concert at the Palms at Crown. He'll sing classic Spandau tunes while fellow 80's warbler Paul Young will also belt out some fine melodies of his own.
Talkback's Derryn Hinch has hung up his fishnet stockings and high heels, ending his six week stint as the narrator in the Rocky Horror Show at the Comedy theatre. Whispers are that Bert Newton could slip on the fishnets to join the outrageously entertaining show.
Actor Vince Colosimo joked that the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry made him an offer he couldn't refuse. Vince was Master of Ceremonies at the Chamber's annual charity ball at the weekend. He spent most of the night obliging guests' requests for happy snaps.
Music sensation Crowded House is still as popular as ever. The band's Forum concert in December sold out in one minute. A second show was quickly announced.
Word is that some entertainers are disappointed that the Famous Spiegeltent hasn't made it to Melbourne this year for the International Arts Festival. Instead, the plainly named Spiegeltent is in the Arts Centre forecourt until late December. It's very similar but missing some of the trimmings of the original venue.
