Richmond heartbroken as they lose in the final minute – again

TODAY’S LINE-UP after St Kilda v Sydney: Kane Cornes, Shane McInnes, and Nick Butler.

=====

FULL TIME

GWS has beaten Richmond by three points in a thriller.

The Tigers lost after the siren last week, and lost in even more heartbreaking circumstances in Round 9.

Tiger debutant Shai Bolton thought he had won it in the final minute with a crumbing snap. Indeed, the ball went back to the middle of the ground awaiting a centre bounce.

However, the call was overturned on a review.

The Giants then took it the length of the field, with Jeremy Cameron putting GWS in front for the first time in the match.

“This is so Richmond,” 3AW analyst Kane Cornes said.

HALF TIME

Richmond leads by 21 points at the main break.

Lachie Whitfield had a chance to cut the margin very late in the piece but the siren denied his goal.

Injured Giant Tendai Mzungu joined the 3AW commentary box during the half-time break.

He said it’s frustrating watching from the sidelines.

“The silver lining is the opportunity it gives to other guys like Harry Perryman and Daniel Lloyd,” he said.

=====

Richmond has come crashing down to earth since its string of five wins to start the season.

But to arrest the slide, they’ll have to get past GWS in Sydney’s west.

The Giants will jump to the top of the ladder – for the time being, anyway – if they win on Saturday afternoon.
