There are growing calls for controversial rap artist Tyler, the Creator to be banned from touring Australia.

The 24-year-old has been accused of inciting riots and preaches race hate, rape and violence against women in his music.

Campaigner and Collective Shout co-founder Melinda Tankard Reist told Neil Mitchell it's not just his words but his actions, which should be condemned.

"If you had a look at what he did last time it would be dangerous to ignore him," she said.

"He incited violence against one of our activists, in fact it was her footage of him inciting that violence that caused New Zealand to ban him from touring in 2013.

"We can't ignore someone who comes here and advocates rape and extreme violence against women through his lyrics, who advocates murder, genital mutilation."

Caller Laura, 17, told Neil Mitchell she is a fan and enjoys his music.

"He sings about (rape) but he doesn't mean it, I don't think," he said.
