In his first match as vice captain, David Warner showed "great maturity" on day one of the first Test against New Zealand.

Macquarie Radio's cricket expert Ian Chappell said he was impressed with Warner's innings, delivering 163 runs.

Australia clearly dominated throughout the first day of the first Test against New Zealand.

"All in all a very good day for Australia and a very deflating day for New Zealand," Chappell said.
