Jack Sinclair burst onto the AFL scene in 2015 when he played 18 matches for St Kilda after he was elevated from the rookie list.

However last year Sinclair was in and out of the side and managed nine senior games.

The Saints are seen as finals contenders in 2017 and Sinclair is doing all he can to make sure he is a part of the ride.

When he returned to pre-season training on Monday, Sinclair immediately stated his case by winning the time trial. He credits a couple of older team mates for helping keep him in good condition while he travelled Europe in the off-season.

Sinclair told 3AW's Sports Today that his overseas trip exercise plan was not such a chore.

"It was made a bit easier by the fact I was with some of the older boys like Jack Newnes and Josh Bruce who have been around a little while," he said.
