No need to rush Jesse Hogan back, says pair of AFL greats

Star Melbourne forward Jesse Hogan is on the cusp of a return to footy after surgery to remove testicular cancer.

But Gerard Healy and Matthew Lloyd say they wouldn’t bring him straight back into the senior side.

The Demons have been flying of late, with Healy saying there shouldn’t be any rush to get Hogan back in the team this week after seven weeks on the sidelines.

“Unless one of the guys coming off the six-day break is sore, or injured, given he’s missed seven weeks, just put him over in the corner in the VFL for a week or two and you may not be forced to make a tough decision,” Healy explained on Sportsday.

“Right now, that forward line is operating so well – it’s a bit unpredictable.”

Essendon champion Lloyd agreed.

“I’m with you,” Lloydy said.
