And the records kept tumbling for David Warner on the first day of the second Test against New Zealand at the WACA.

Australia's vice captain has continued his ridiculously good form, notching his highest Test score when he finished the day at 244 not out - a near flawless inning.   Warner ultimately fell in the first hour of Day 2 on 253, minutes at the crease totaling nearly 7 hours.

He set a new record for the most runs by an individual in a day at Test level on Australian soil and surpassed Doug Walters' record to register the highest score by an Australian against New Zealand.

Tom Moody

"David Warner's hunger for runs is something else, he's become one of the the games most destructive batsman.  There's no doubt he'll continue to challenge batting records throughout his career which bodes well for Australian cricket"

Dean Jones

"Warner is a phenom.  Pure and simple.  He is Australia's biggest asset and has proven against  all wise judgement that quality Test players can be created from T20 cricket."

Mickey Arthur

"The impressive thing about David Warner is how he has developed his game especially his defence and got the balance right between defence and attack.  He is now world class."

Damien Fleming

He's gone from pure hitter to potential great of Australian cricket"

John Emburey

"Viv Richards was the only player that I played against that came into bat and dominated from ball one.  He wanted to dominate the bowler and would settle into his innings.  He was very intimidating. he wanted to let the bowler that he was in charge the moment her came to the wicket.  Warner is that way as well"
