  • It's all an allegation at this stage, Derryn. Just an allegation, by people who are saying a lot in the media but nothing yet to police. Perhaps you should be asking more questions about why those now coming out of the woodwork to talk about what they heard and saw all those years ago did not do something sooner. Or are you daring Hughes to sue you, just to get the matter into a court? Of course, an allegation of sexual misconduct is not proof, or do you consider a man accused of this to be guilty until proven otherwise?

      • Good for you Hinch. As for John above, Hinch hasn't accused Hughes, Ben Oxenbould was the one who named him. Hinch hasn't said Hughes is guilty or innocent.

        • When people put their head up to be counted when it's needed, who the hell are we to judge their motives. I was told to keep a dirty little secret of LONG term molestation of my then wife, by a family member. When the marriage ended, I spoke up about this b---ard to help protect my daughters who would be around this scum when I wasn't there. The reaction? I had my life threatened and told I would have my kids taken from me. None of the victims of this b---ard ever went to the police, and he walks free to do the same any time he likes, today.

I applaud these people who have the guts to stand up when Sarah needs it. I was never a direct victim of my ex's molester, but I ended up paying a high price because of his actions. It affects everyone. And to any child molesters reading this "BURN IN HELL"!!!!!!!!

          • Nick, let's not get into the credibility of the Judiciary, let alone bureaucratic incompetents like Brouwer, the OPI, and Minister Madden~! In Victoria Police terms. we used to refer to the practice as "Privileges of Rank"~! In relation to Madden's recent 'behaviour & performance', one can only be amazed by the deafening silence coming from the Ombudsman's Office~! :)

            • Derryn, when a retiring Supreme Court Judge makes specific mention about inadequate/inappropriate sentencing, the message is obviously getting through. Derryn, I know it's so easy for people to give token support to you in relation to Suppression Orders, when you're the one in the firing line. Regardless, a lot of genuine people fully support your initiative, particularly when the Judiciary are obviously abusing their powers. PERSONALLY, I would like to see Derryn Hinch given OFFICIAL recognition for Services to the Community over many years, and I hereby publicly submit his name for consideration.

              • Nick, we call the practice - "SELECTIVE JUSTICE"~! Some people may have other names for it~! :)

Just so that we are perfectly clear - in the event of a change of government, Indictable Offences DO NOT have a Statute of Limitations~! :)

You know John, you sound so much like the people who would defend my father when i was 8 years old,why do people never speak out about being molested. frankly its because do gooders like you will always doubt them.
i am really stunned that you could actually think he may be innocent, people dont just jump on the band wagon and make this up,again its the victim who is being doubted.
derryn hinch has at least got the guts to help our children, when others are concerned for the poor offenders,he is helping so many children have a voice,
i would wear pads at the age of 9, when my father would abuse me daily, screamed when i urinated, and covered the bruising with foundation.
my father would tell everyone i fell off my bike, and hit personal areas of my body, i tried to tell, but everyone doubted, in the end i gave up and endured the pain.
sorry if i have been to confronting, but i refuse to hide anymore.
thankyou mr hinch, for believing in the survivers.
sometimes the truth, falls on deaf ears, as it is easier to say nothing, and pretend its not an issue,
                  unless of course it involves
                  a child in their family

                  • I think Sarah, Ben, Simone and now several others who have come forward, are being very strong; it is important to stand and be counted when you can, and now it seems that more are coming forward...all because Sarah was brave enough to speak out!

                    • It's interesting that the ACA reporter stressed that Hughes is innocent till proven guilty...he wasn't so equable when presenting his hatchet job on catching a 'predator'. I don't deny that Hughes has a few questions to answer but that kind of sleazy public affairs distortion only serves to inflame, as well as potentially screw the chance for a conviction.
