hello neil, my dad passed away october 2011 and the tru engergy account was transferred into mums name. people really need to read their electricty bills as i nearly paid the account for mum and the service address isnt even hers. my sister rang tru and they need the meter number before they look at the problem. mum received an overdue notice last week. mum is currently away so now one of the family have to try and sort it out this is ridiculous.
ALWAYS go and check the meter number (whether it is gas or electricity) .. I have had "actual" readings that were WAY off! We have 2 adults and 1 toddler living in a unit and were being charged $300 for electricity and almost the same for gas!
It could be much, much worse. Imagine if Jeff hadn't sold off the SEC? They'd be no competition and they could charge what they liked. :p
i rang simply energy to advise them i was moving house.They said they would send me a final bill.I had just paid a bll a week before.They sent me the final bill for $394 dated 5-1-12.With a recovery Notice adding $88. The bill was not Due til 12-1-12..NOT bad hey..The recovery notice was sent before the bill was due..I queried the bill it was a mistake.I only had to pay $94...SIMPLY what a SCAM
TRU sent us a bill, opening balance $0.00, new charges $350.00, discount of $10.00, total amount due $620.00. Rang call center they could not explain it but gave an extra 4 weeks to pay and a further $50 discount. Charges dated back to April, something to do with us having solar panels and their billing system could not cope.
Hello Neil, a few weeks ago, having received an electricity bill higher than normally, I decided to ring the company to ask for an explanation. When I eventually got through I asked the girl if the cost of electricity had gone up recently, without me noticing it. Reluctantly she admitted that in fact it had increased. As I manifested my disgust and said that I would be changing company, promptly she offered me a discount, which infurated me even more. I asked her why that discount was not passed on to me before, as obviously the company could afford to operate at the discounted rate, if she was offering it now. Her answer was that the company could not reduce the electricity rate without my approuval. It seems that the company can increase the charges without me being even notified, but it is not allowed to reduce them unless I agree!!!! THAT COMPANY IS NO LONGER MY POWER COMPANY. Regards Sam
My last bill (received in December)for October was estimated (even though I have a smart meter.I checked the reading last week and it still hasn't reached their reading.I also checked my solar input. Mtr reading 1270kw, solar 6700kw input.Am interested in what my next bill will be.
The despot Kennett is totally responsible for this situation
December actual bill with smart meter was $1300 for 3 months, usually $400! After 5 phone calls, company admitting that the reading is correct but their calculations are wrong by about 3000kw l am STILL waiting for an amended bill, they have had a further 2 attempts to get it right but have failed .Scary part is as the reading is correct it would never have been picked up if l didn't question. Sick of waiting so have now contacted ombudsman and hope to finally get it sorted.
I totally agree Mylene, imagine if Cain and Kirner weren't in charge forcing a sell off of our assets.
