  • Stop the roll-out and replace the one's already fitted. Their only purpose is to add costs to every Victorian household and to see the loss of jobs to many meter readers.

    • Don't let the fitter touch your house unless he produces an 'A' grade electricians licence and issues you with a compliance certificate. Your house insurer will insist on this.

        • @Greg. A meter reader drilled a hole in my mum's fence. If smart meters keep people out of her yard bring them on.

          • A person at the smart metre instaler company said they do not have to give a compliance certificate, even though my insurance has said I must have one. This person wrote me a letter stating they are fully trained electricians. I have been able to put the installation on hold while I get legal advice on this.

            • This is nothing more than a ploy by labor who signed the contract with their LACKYS to hinder the new ELECTED BAILLIEU government. Brumby and his mates are still ROBBING Victorians!!~

                • I smell a rat! No other Australian state or international country has customers pay for these meters so why are Victorians?

With no customer benefits all the benefits flow to electricity industry so they should pay for them

                  • 1) The smart meter displays are battery powered and need to be replaced every 3 years. You cant replace the battery and you have to replace the meter - the smart meters cost the power company $250. In the next 2 years all smart meters will need to be replaced at a cost of $650M USD incidentally this will happen every 2-3 years.

                    2) The technicians installing the meters are B grade electricians; it is illegal for them to work unsupervised (and that means with a person next to them). These technicians have been working alone hence the majority of smart meters have been fitted illegally.

                    3) The manufacturing company that supplies the meters are currently investigating 1000s of faulty meters and are replacing 300+ per week. They cant investigate the total amount because they dont have the man power to do it. Three phase smart meters are particularly badly effected.

                    4) The smart meters do not communicate with the LAN so all smart meters that have been installed are being read by a meter reader so no cost savings have been recovered. The LAN is not expected to be operational for another 9 months.

                    5) The time of use tariff is moronic Victorians have known for decades that electricity is cheaper between midnight and 6am yet know one gets out of bed to do the washing and ironing in this time.

                    6) I work for the company thats installing them.

                    7) Call the ombudsman (stating points 1, 2 and 3) and register a complaint based on the above it costs the power company $1000 per complaint lodged (the ombudsman bills the power company regardless of the outcome) If every one did this, the smart meter program would go out of business over night.

                    • Horrible thought but our insurance companies could be the saving grace. Mine has also stated that I will need a complaince certificate if a smart meter is installed. I did hear that lot of the insulation installers were now fitting smart meters with two days training !! I've locked my meter box and cut a hole so that they can read the meter but no way are they touching it without the correct documentation. Where's the ETU on this one, don't want to appear to be supporting the libs I guess.
