Spida Everitt inflames the issue

AFL condemns Collingwood's Mad Monday

Hinch wants to name names

UPDATE: Media commentator and former AFL star Peter Everitt has responded to criticism of his tweets by 3AW's Neil Mitchell by implying they've been taken out of context.

This morning, Everitt arguably attacked the alleged victim in the sexual assault case police are investigating which involves a complaint made against at least one Collingwood footballer.

Neil Mitchell told Everit to 'grow up!' after reading the tweet: "Girls!! When will you learn! At 3am when you are blind drunk & you decide to go home with a guy ITS NOT FOR A CUP OF MILO! Allegedly......"

At 3:20pm, Everitt posted five tweets where he accuses Mitchell of taking 'poetic license' in delivering the editorial you can hear in the media player above.

"1 of 5 neil mitchell has taken poetic licence to interpret my words to mean I support matters regarding sexual offences in favour of"

"2/5 the perpertrator. This is so far from the truth it is laughable. I can not and will not ever support female abuse in any manner or form"

"3/5 my comments are solely aimed at warning females of the danger of being drunk or under the influence of drugs. I do not condone any"

"4/5 actions that lead to or may lead to a sexual offence being committed."

"5/5 thank you!"

Even before his five-tweet defence, Everitt posted other tweets since he first came under fire this morning on the 3AW website which in order of appearance said:

"As my tweet states very clearly everything is alleged"

"I never said I support rape infact if u look I have never mentioned the word rape"

"Clearly a lot of u are not reading my tweets correctlym"

EARLIER: After Neil Mitchell criticised the Collingwood players for allowing themselves to be filmed drinking and partying in the wake of very serious sexual allegations alleged against one of the club's players, the 3AW host has uncovered another example of a man connected to the footy world 'just not getting it'.

Former AFL star Peter 'Spida' Everitt has posted two tweets on his site http://twitter.com/spidaeveritt, which one can reasonably assume are linked to the woman who has filed a complaint with Victoria Police against at least one Collingwood player.

The Tweet credited to Everitt that is most damning says: "Girls!! When will you learn! At 3am when you are blind drunk & you decide to go home with a guy ITS NOT FOR A CUP OF MILO! Allegedly......"

This comment, posted around 10am today, comes on the back of allegations reported in The Australian newspaper which suggest a Collingwood footballer being investigated for taking part in an alleged pack sexual assault.

The attack allegedly occurred at a home in Dorcas Street South Melbourne in the early hours of Sunday morning and the newspaper's reporting  it allegedly involved the Collingwood player, the woman's boyfriend and several other men.

The paper's reporting the boyfriend urged her to have sex with the Premiership player and the others then forced their way into the bedroom.

The woman - a University student - has been medically examined as police compile their case.

Items from the South Melbourne address, including bedsheets and condoms, have also been taken away for forensic testing.

Everitt's Twitter account is followed by more than 1,300 people, which includes media representatives and footy fans.

3AW is seeking an explanation from Everitt.

  • Why isn't it for a cup of Milo Spider?

All women should feel safe any where anytime drunk or not when they are in the company of decent men who have good morals and respect for themselves as well as for the woman..

unfortunately this woman could have misjudged the situation due to alcohol and being in the wrong company with possible vultures.

    • In a way I agree with Spider.
When some male footballers are tanked they think they are invincible and will not get caught.
However what kind of a man who would want his girlfriend to have with a premiership player.
We live in a strange world
Maybe girls should stay away from drunken footballers or any drunken male for that matter.

      • Neil,
Being a female and have had experience with alcohol as a teenager, I can clearly say that with the lolly drinks readily available that seem to mask the taste of alcohol, that on occassion the effects of alcohol are not felt until its too late, and you have already had too much. So people in this situation are not always in control of their actions. Under no circumstances should women be violated because they may have had too much to drink whether deliberate or otherwise. There needs to be more duty of care for fellow human beings and awareness of the damaging effects caused by the abundance of alcohol in our society. Drunkeness is not consent!

          • When are young ladies going to stop putting themselves into stupid situations. It has become tiring hearing of girls being mistreated well here's food for thought don't be there it isn't hard to work it out. When do the girls take responsibilty for there own actions for goodness sake. No more girls at these functions end of story it's just simply a haven for trouble. NO IT DOESN'T MAKE THE MEN'S BEHAVIOUR RIGHT BUT IF THE GIRL WASN'T THERE IT NEVER WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TRUE.

            • Regardless of whether women consume slower-acting lolly drinks or not, they need to be aware of the judgement-distorting effects of alcohol. I have no sympathy for you, girls.

Also, why is it that women are allowed into these nightclubs wearing next to nothing? The men, on the other hand, are usually required to dress to a standard. It's a double standard which women deliberately exploit so that they can appear "sexy".

I truly have no sympathy for you, girls.

                • It seems that what a number of you are saying is that men can't be trusted. Is that it? That if a woman has had a few drinks she should take herself home because she should know a drunk male will most likely rape and it's her fault if she finds herself in this situation. What a sad situation for the number of good quality men out there who don't take advantage. How about people understand that NO means NO. That even if a woman is naked on a bed, if she decides all of a sudden she doesn't want to have sex then she is perfectly within her rights to make that choice. I challenge you to make these same comments the day (god forbid) your sister, mother, daughter or girlfriend are raped.

                    • I agree with Spider. These girls get blind drunk and dont know what they are doing.
Women throw themselves at AFL players, then all of the sudden it's the players fault.
Wake up to yourselves girls and stop acting cheap.
