Tom Elliott and Richard Di Natale have had a passionate discussion about what can and should be done to help outcomes for indigenous Australians.

It follows calls to introduce an indigenous advisory council to help the government.

Tom Elliott said there was no doubt indigenous people had been treated poorly in the past, but remains fundamentally opposed to the idea of treating people differently based on race.

The leader of the Greens said while that was admirable in theory, it was unfortunately far from the reality.
