Tom Elliott: Profile
Tom is the Managing Director and a co-founder of Melbourne based hedge fund, MM and E Capital Pty Ltd. He has presented the finance report on the Neil Mitchell show for over four years, and has also filled in for both Neil and Derryn Hinch at various times over the past 12 months.
Tom is also a contributor to Channel 9's Sunday program and writes for various publications on mainly financial issues.
What was your first job?
My first real job was as a messenger boy for stockbroker McIntosh, Griffin, Hamson, Wallce-Smith and Co in 1983. John Mcintosh is now the chairman of my company!
What is your favourite on air moment thus far?
In June 2006 I interviewed my mother, Lorraine Elliott, on air after she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (AM). This made me very proud!
What is your most embarrassing on air moment?
I was struck down by the dreaded 'dead air' once while filling in for Derryn Hinch after I became distracted watching the cricket on television!
If you could interview anyone (living or dead) who would it be?
General Sir John Monash, as it'd be fascinating to learn more about the crucial role he played in 1918 during the Allies' victory over Germany.
