From Left Field: Derryn Hinch, Jessie Taylor + Fiona Patten
Our FROM LEFT FIELD trio rotate weekly, Tuesdays at 10am
In the era of fake news and echo chambers, it’s never been more important to discuss and debate opposing views.
We do that every day on the Neil Mitchell program, but Tuesdays are reserved for three of the more provocative voices in Victoria.
But not they’re pop-gun opinions.
These are decision-makers and influencers in their own right.
- Derryn Hinch, federal senator, Justice Party founder
A long-time 3AW host himself, the man they call The Human Headline went from commentator to political player in 2015 when he was elected to the federal senate.
He became a particularly important figure in Victorian politics when hist Justice Party collected two upper house seats.
- Fiona Patten, state senator, Reason Party founder
Found of the Reason Party, previously called the Sex Party, Fiona Patten is not your regular politician.
Her working life began as a fashion designer and her political career began as an AIDS educator with ACT sex worker advocacy group, WISE.
She entered politics with an aim to affect change on censorship, drug law reform, euthanasia and marriage equality.
- Jessie Taylor, Liberty Victoria president
Jessie Taylor is a lawyer on the board of the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre.
In 2016 she was appointed president of Liberty Victoria, one of Australia’s leading civil liberties organisations.
