Victim punched and bitten in frightening road rage incident

A man has been punched, bitten and thrown against oncoming cars in a frightening road rage incident in Melbourne’s inner west.

Ibrahim Kayani, 25, has been left with a severe bite mark in his arm, a fractured finger, bruising and without his mobile phone after his attacker fled with it on Saturday.

Mr Kayani’s car was hit from behind by a blue Audi Hatch at the intersection of Walter Street and Maribyrnong Road about 3.30pm on December 30, both drivers proceeding to get out of the car to exchange details.

The victim has told 3AW Mornings when he told the man he would be calling police, the man’s violent outburst began.

“When I said I would call police he just came up and slapped me across the face and punched me,” he said.

“He was swearing under his breath, he was acting so suspicious.”

“I just asked him to show me his licence.”

Police say after the initial conversation, the offender allegedly assaulted Mr Kayani by punching, biting and throwing him against nearby vehicles, before stealing his phone and fleeing the scene.

Sergeant Paris Karaoglanis told 3AW Breakfast the motive behind the violence is unclear.

“We’re not sure what sparked such an unprovoked attack,” he said.
