Why canopies at a Melbourne service station could become heritage listed

There’s been a push to place heritage listing on canopies at the West Gate Bridge service stations with the City of Melbourne set to vote on the proposal soon.

Incoming Melbourne lord mayor, Nicholas Reece says the canopies have been found to be locally significant.

“That’s not the highest rating in terms of heritage a building can get … they are talking about just the canopy structure,” he told Tom Elliott.
